IYCN (Indian Youth Climate Network) is conducting a series of events across the country to raise awareness on the need for a sustainable future amongst the masses of India on the 10th of October. This day (10/10/10) will mark a day of on ground action where individuals and organizations across 183 countries and 5,943 actions (and counting) will come together to work with their communities to cut carbon emissions and build a cleaner greener future.

In Bangalore this year a number of organizations are coming together to Celebrate a ‘Day of Climate Solutions’. Organizers from the Indian Youth Climate Network expect over 500 people to join the work party in Bangalore.

Tree plantation drive at Parappana Agrahara
50 saplings will be planted at PA by IYCN in association with TUV , BBMP and Community members of Parappana Agrahara.

CFL Drive
Around 5 houses in PA will be part of this program. Incandescent bulbs will be replaced by CFL’s. Pre and post energy audit would be taken up to understand the impact of the project.

Around 50 saplings will be planted at HSR park by IYCN in association with BBMP, Samarthanam school for disabled and Residents Welfare Associaton.

SWM awareness program
An awareness program is planned to explain the importance of segregation of waste in residential area. As part of this program 250 dustbins would be distributed. This project is supported by Youth for Seva , Radio active, BBMP and HSR RWA

Cycle Rally
A group of cyclists will cycle around the city to give visibility to the growing community of cyclists and to draw the city’s attention to cycling as a mode of transport.
